The 2026/2027 UEFA Nations League gets under way on 24 September, with a packed schedule of high-profile clashes featuring some of the continent's biggest national teams.

One of the standout matches of the opening round sees Germany face the Netherlands on 24 September, in a game of particular significance at the start of a new era for both teams, with Jürgen Klopp set to lead Germany while Xavi Hernández begins a new chapter with the Netherlands.

Football fans are also looking forward to England's meeting with Spain on 26 September, a repeat of the Euro 2024 final, when Spain won 2-1 in Berlin.

Attention will also turn to Italy and France in one of the standout group-stage matches, while Norway striker Erling Haaland will be among the key players to watch, particularly as he leads the competition's all-time scoring charts with 19 goals.

A new competition after the World Cup

A few months after the end of the 2026 World Cup, European national teams enter a new phase of competition, with changes in coaching staff and differing ambitions ahead of the upcoming commitments.

The first four matchdays of the Nations League will run from 24 September to 6 October 2026, before the group stage resumes in November.
